Nepal Hosts Symposium on Innovation Towards a Greener Future Kathmandu, Nepal – A landmark Symposium on Innovation Towards a Greener Future was successfully held, bringing together sustainability experts, businesses, and community leaders to explore innovative climate solutions. The event was co-hosted by Eco Climate Innovators, Community Leadership Nepal, Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN), and AIROI, under the leadership of Nepal GSFN Lead and Chair of the Green Awards Program, Ujjwal Amatya. The symposium aimed to promote interdependent leadership, sustainable governance, and collaborative action towards environmental protection and carbon reduction. One of the key sessions featured AIROI’s presentation on carbon credit projects, where experts introduced Net0Trace and Green Wallet, two pioneering platforms designed to track and facilitate green finance transactions. GSFN also shared its vision, mission, and unique governance structure, emphasizing the Chairship model and interdependent collaborative leadership as a way to drive global sustainability efforts. The Capacity Development Green Awards Programme was also highlighted as a crucial initiative to support and recognize individuals and organizations contributing to climate resilience. A workshop session explored ways to engage end-users, tourists, and small businesses, including Nepal’s handicraft SMEs, in carbon credit initiatives. A key focus was on eco-friendly innovations like cloth made from banana skin, showcasing how sustainable practices can be integrated into local industries. Participants discussed the economic, social, and environmental benefits of such projects, emphasizing the importance of awareness, incentives, and inclusive participation. The symposium concluded with a call for action, urging all stakeholders to collaborate in accelerating Nepal’s transition towards a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
